چکیده

The class-D power amplifiers which operate in a switched mode have become an attractive alternative of the conventional analog power amplifiers class-A, B and AB in the field of audio applications. They offer high power efficiency compared to analog power amplifiers and can be realised as completely digital power amplifiers. This paper briefly overviews the basic concepts of analog and digital power amplification using the pulse-width and sigmadelta modulation techniques as well as novel approach based on a click modulation technique and class-D power stages.

THD Analysis in Closed-Loop Analog PWM Class-D Amplifiers

In this paper, we investigate the parameters affecting Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and Power Supply Rejection Ratio (PSRR) in PWM Class D Amplifiers (CDAs) on the basis of linear models with feedback. From our mathematical analysis, we show that the THD of a PWM Class D amplifier with feedback can be improved by increasing the gain of the integrator through adding another amplifier at the o...

Tms320c67-based Design of a Digital Audio Power Amplifier Introducing Novel Feedback Strategy

The fundamental problem of pulse-width modulation (PWM) based open-loop digital Class-D audio power amplifiers is the inherent nonlinearity of the PWM process, which necessitates the application of a precompensating linearization algorithm. Severe technical difficulties arising from the stringent speed requirements of both electronic circuitry, and digital signal processing devices make the imp...

About the Demodulation of Pwm-signals with Applications to Audio Amplifiers

In this paper, the reason for the relatively high distortion level of conventional class-D audio amplifiers is discussed. It is pointed out that the classical approach is insufficient for high performance applications. Therefore the importance of the matching between modulation and demodulation is demonstrated by simulation. 1. THE CLASS-D-AUDIO AMPLIFIER The concept of class-D amplifiers was i...

Modulation and System Techniques in PWM and SDM Switching Amplifiers*

Continuousand discrete-time switching audio power amplifiers are studied both with and without feedback. Pulse-width modulation (PWM) and sigma–delta modulation (SDM) amplifier configurations are simulated and their interrelationship is described using linear phase modulation (LPM) and linear frequency modulation (LFM). Distortion generation encountered when applying negative feedback to PWM is...

Reduce EMI from Class D Amplifiers Using New Modulation Techniques and Filter Architectures - Application Note - Maxim

Class D amplifiers have always offered better efficiency than Class AB amplifiers for low-power applications. This inherent advantage, however, rarely outweighed the traditional disadvantages of Class D, which were higher cost, reduced audio performance, and the need for output filtering. Recent advances in Class D technology, however, have brought Class D costs and audio performance up to equa...
